Warning

The notice to visitors warning that the Analog Art page contains sexually explicit material doesn’t fully explain the situation. Yes, there are drawings of naked people. Is it “graphic”? Well, yes... But, somehow it’s more than just pornography. The content wasn’t meant to arouse so much as to make you feel.

Sexual content. I feel forced to refer to it that way even though the sexual content is only one element of many. The warning ought to read: “Caution - this page contains extreme surreal images with haunting psychological subtexts and some tits.”

Adult content. Just for the record - the art is for adults only. And at the same time the original art for the image Rosebud hangs on my bedroom wall. The only notice our two kids take of the anatomy is to comment on bellybuttons.

One frequent visitor who’s advice I value remarked that the warning was a positive addition. Then, another person reported that they had skipped the page because of the warning. I was disappointed that they had chosen not to view the art. I felt they had judged me and my art by the warning and the warning had given the wrong impression. I wanted to explain how the warning was just a formality and that the images transcend smut - they’re not that kind of explicit - these are the intellectually charged, X-rated pictures!

Lord knows I’ve drawn my share of the “other” kind - the art where the charge is directed at the groin and not the brain - and I’ve resisted posting those on this site. I don’t want anyone to miss seeing what I’ve created because of the warning or that there is a legitimate reason not to.

Then again, there are a lot of penises and vaginas on display. So the warning stands but at least you now have more information with which to make a decision.
