In late 2004 the folks at Berkley have made it easier to choose among several distributed computing projects with the BOINC client software. So if you feel that scanning the EM spectrum looking for ET is too hopeless a task then perhaps finding ridiculously large prime numbers or folding complex proteins is just right for you.
